Music magazine front cover

I started off constructing my front page with the mast head.

Urban Beat

This is how I looked at first but I thought it didn’t look quite write so I joined the words together and changed the colour of one word.

UrbanBeat

I decided it looked better like that so I stuck to it.

I then went on to write my cover lines, teasers and skyline, however the front I used at first didn’t work well on my magazine so I changed it. I went back to look at my case studies so I could see how vibe magazine laid everything out and that’s when I added red boxes behind the words exclusive and fashion forward which made my magazine more realistic. I then added the barcode and the price and moved things around so they didn’t look out of place. Then I added the main cover line I did it in a bigger font, different colour and in the same font as the masthead so it would stand out against the other pieces of writing on the page. Lastly I added in the photograph I had taken on a location shoot.
Originally i was going to use this picture as my front cover

However i was advised that this picture would look better if i just cut her out from the background so that's what i did.

  1. I like your magazine, I like how you have used your 3 colours consistance between all 3 pages. however you could possilbly add more to the background of each of your pages as they dont quite look complete however overall all it looks really good.

  2. I like the outcome of your magazine the use of colour is well achieved, for the cover adding some background would be more effective. You could also add a date and an issue number on your cover. Overall, it works really well.
